Empowering Individuals to live in Integrity™
Irving Najman, MA, LMFT, CSAT
In an environment of sensitivity and compassion, I will help you bring resolution to a wide range of life's challenges and emotional issues. I also believe that you are a Divine Being with all the inner resources to effectively deal with your situations and I'm here to guide you on your journey. It is my belief that issues are a blessing and they are opportunities for healing and learning. It is my objective to provide a safe and nurturing environment that will assist you in achieving stability in your life. My mission is to help you find your True Self and rediscover your Spirituality.
After many years in a field that was draining my physical & emotional energy, and during my own personal recovery and healing from addictions & infidelity, I decided to become a counselor to help men and couples that were hurting from problematic sexual behaviors, such as sex/porn addiction, unfaithfulness, trauma & betrayal.
Sexual Addiction and Intimacy Disorder Counseling
I was personally trained in the TINSA® (Trauma-Induced Sex Addiction) model and the Newest Reconnection Model® by Dr. Michael Barta, PhD, CSAT, a pioneering leader in the neurobiological treatment of sex addiction and trauma. I have also been certified as a Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT N° 2008C-0692), through the training offered by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) headed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, the leading expert in the field. My passion is to work with adult and adolescent men who are struggling with sex addiction and help them achieve freedom from compulsive, destructive sexual behaviors, live a fulfilling life and teach them about healthy sexuality.
Individual Counseling & Trauma Therapy
I also work with individuals, including adolescent men, who are dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, and other addictive behaviors. While working at The Life Healing Center in Santa Fe, NM, I also received extensive training in working with individuals that were struggling with trauma and sexual abuse. As a survivor of childhood trauma, I know how painful it is to live with those memories, but recovery is possible, and I can help you achieve freedom from the hurt & shame that you’ve been carrying. I also have almost 30 years of personal recovery and I bring a wealth of experience, strength & hope into the therapeutic relationship with my clients.
Couples Counseling
When couples decide to enter in a relationship, they rely on honesty, trust and intimacy, but when infidelity happens that relationship suffers, and the bond is broken. My purpose is to help the couple heal from the betrayal, to help the betrayer express his/her feelings & practice empathy towards the other partner and to help the betrayed partner heal his/her trauma. Recovery for the couple is possible, especially if both parties are committed to repairing their relationship. If both of you are ready to commit to the relationship, then you're ready to begin your journey.
Some Fun Facts about Me
When my wife and I got married 40 years ago, we planned to have a child about every four years, that way we would only have one child in college at a time. One thing that I often hear in meetings is that “whenever I make plans, G-d laughs.” Well it’s true, we did end up having four kids (not every four years) and strangely enough, even though there’s 15 years difference between the oldest and the youngest, all our children are either in the Mental Health Industry or in college getting a PhD in Psychology. Another thing that I would like to share with you is that when my addiction was exposed to the light, my wife was able to have faith in me that I would work hard to become the man she saw the day we got married. I’m so grateful and blessed that she believed in me when I was feeling so shameful, hopeless and despair. After 28 years in recovery…and counting, I can honestly say that our relationship is stronger, healthier and more intimate. Some of my hobbies include playing chess, hiking, camping, traveling, cooking, watching movies and playing Quarkel (a new game that my oldest daughter introduced us…it’s a lot of fun!!).
